All the investment and operational professionals have a combination of expertise having previously worked for global private equity firms and different innovative start-ups within the emerging markets. The office and the team are based in Colombo, Sri Lanka and therefore bring deep expertise with direct access to the local market

FOUNDER OF KANDA CAPITAL

Which he initiated in 2019. David started his career with The Abraaj Group in 2012, which was a global private equity firm operating in emerging markets and managed US$ 14 billion in Assets under Management. Over a six-year period, he worked in Dubai, Accra, Johannesburg and Lima on investments in FMCG, Financial Services, Industrials and the Healthcare sector, across Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. Subsequently, he worked with 54 Capital, an Africa Focused Asset Manager managing US$ 150 million in Assets under Management and the largest financial sponsor in Ethiopia. At 54 Capital, he sourced investment opportunities in Africa, undertook due diligence for different investment proposals, developed financial models and was instrumental in increasing the firm's assets under management

David holds an MSc in Economics and Finance from the University of Bristol, UK, and a BSc in International Economics and Business from the University of Groningen in The Netherlands. He is a native Dutch speaker; he is also fluent in English and proficient in Spanish

SENIOR ASSOCIATE AND A FOUNDING TEAM MEMBER OF KANDA CAPITAL

Who focuses on the advisory, fundraising, and investment efforts of the business. A Pakistan native, Vardah grew up in Dubai leading to her passion for realizing growth in emerging markets. Before joining Kanda Capital, Vardah accumulated five years of investing and operational experience having worked at a start-up, private equity, and management consulting firms across Dubai and Pakistan. She previously worked as Chief of Staff at The Modist, where she was instrumental in raising funds for the business and leading strategic initiatives and the business analysis vertical. Before that, she was an Analyst at The Abraaj Group, having started her career as a Consultant at PwC

Vardah holds a BSc in Mechatronics Engineering from Sabanci University in Istanbul, Turkey. She speaks English and Urdu fluently, and is proficient in Arabic
